ACCOMMODATIONS |
|
There are many choices of accommodations in Key West. You can choose to stay at a nice luxury hotel, a 50's style motel, a bed and breakfast, a condo or you can rent a house. For those of you who don't live in a tourist environment, you might not understand that rates vary according to the time of year...or a special event. Generally our peak season is after Christmas until Easter. Rates are higher during those months. Rates for the summer season are considerably less than during the winter season. And, the absolutely DEAD time of year is September and early October. That is the hottest time of year but the quietest and the rates are less than at any other time of the year. Many restaurants take the month of September off and are closed. However, other restaurants offer special priced meals during this time. There are two Courtyard by Marriotts and they are within a mile of each other on N. Roosevelt Blvd. I have been the concierge at both of them. Currently, however, I am working at the Lightbourn Inn which is in old town Key West. The house is 101 years old. There are 10 rooms, a small pool and everyone exclaims about our wonderful breakfast. (It is more than a continental breakfast.) All rooms have a private bath and we have off-street parking. |
